Dr. Rachel Barry

Dr. Rachel Barry is the Owner and Clinical Director of The Station on Tanti, Family and Women’s Clinic est. 2017. Dr. Barry was raised in the beautiful coastal city of Cork in Ireland. Graduating with honours from University College Cork in 2007, Dr. Barry went on the complete her hospital internship in one of Ireland’s foremost centres of excellence, Cork University Hospital. Dr. Barry’s comprehensive training includes disciplines such as Accident and Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Aesthetic Skin and Skin Cancer Medicine.

Dr. Barry has a particular interest in Women’s and Children’s Health. She has a Diploma in Children’s Health from The Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. Dr. Barry has been delivering Women’s Health Care on the Mornington Peninsula for the last 5 years. One of Dr. Barry’s key focus areas is Family Planning and Contraception. She has completed further training in this area is also qualified to insert long acting reversible contraceptive devices such as Implanon and Mirena coils.

Although being involved in full time clinical activity for the last number of years, Dr. Barry has also managed to fit in getting married, becoming a mother of 3 children including twins and moving her family across continents to the Peninsula.

Dr. Barry is excited about the opportunities and challenges that working on the Peninsula brings and is particularly looking forward to bringing her experience in the practice of family and community based medicine to Mornington Coastal. “Being from Ireland, family and community are at the very centre of General Practice. Australia and Ireland are quite similar in this respect and I’m looking forward to seeing how my experience translates in the Mornington community.”

Dr. Barry enjoys travel, Crossfit, baking and anything that gets her out in the sunshine. Dr. Barry feels life is all about balance.

    Women’s Health – As a specialist Women’s clinic and with a number of female doctors on the team, we are able to assist you with all of your Women’s Health needs including family planning, pregnancy, breastfeeding, sexual health, menopause and fertility issues. With our network of specialist care providers, we can refer you to our local Obstetric and Gynaecological specialists as needed for comprehensive management.

  • Children’s Health

    Children’s Health – All of our doctors are experienced in the care of young children. At The Station, we provide newborn checks involving a full examination including monitoring of baby’s weight. We manage common newborn issues such as feeding problems, breastfeeding complications, reflux and colic. Dr. Barry is an accredited Shared Care provider and can assist you at all stages of your pregnancy.

  • Skin Problems

    Skin Problems – All of our doctors can perform skin checks and also provide minor surgical procedures. We provide other services such as management of ingrown toenails and joint injections.

In 2017 I opened The Station on Tanti Women’s Clinic. This is a new chapter in my professional and personal development and I will forward to shaping and delivering care to the people of the Mornington Peninsula for many years to come.
